چکیده

We investigate various forms of face-to-face and multiparty interac‐ tions in the context of potential brain-computer interface interactions (BCI). BCI has been employed in clinical applications but more recently also in domestic and game and entertainment applications. This paper focusses on multi-party game applications. That is, BCI game applications that allow multiple users and different BCI paradigms to get a cooperative or competitive task done. Our obser‐ vations are quite preliminary and not yet supported by experimental research. Nevertheless we think we have put forward steps to structure future BCI game research and to make connections with neuro-scientific social interaction

Brain-Computer Interfaces: A Neuroscience Paradigm of Social Interaction? A Matter of Perspective

A number of recent studies have put human subjects in true social interactions, with the aim of better identifying the psychophysiological processes underlying social cognition. Interestingly, this emerging Neuroscience of Social Interactions (NSI) field brings up challenges which resemble important ones in the field of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI). Importantly, these challenges go beyond co...

EEG Based Brain Computer Interface Hand Grasp Control: Feature Extraction Method MTCSP

Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) are communication systems, which enable users to send commands to computers by using brain activity only; this activity being generally measured by Electroencephalography (EEG). BCIs are generally designed according to a pattern recognition approach, i.e., by extracting features from EEG signals, and by using a classifier to identify the user’s mental state from...

Control of a 2-DoF robotic arm using a P300-based brain-computer interface

In this study, a novel control algorithm, based on a P300-based brain-computer interface (BCI) is fully developed to control a 2-DoF robotic arm. Eight subjects including 5 men and 3 women perform a 2-dimensional target tracking in a simulated environment. Their EEG (Electroencephalography) signals from visual cortex are recorded and P300 components are extracted and evaluated to perform a real...

Towards Multimodal, Multi-party, and Social Brain-Computer Interfacing

In this paper we identify developments that have led to the current interest from computer scientists in Brain-Computer Interfacing (BCI). Nondisabled users have become a target group for BCI applications. Non-disabled users can not be treated as patients. They are free to move and use their hands during the interaction with an application. Therefore BCI should be integrated in a multimodal app...
